Tooth loss amongst adults is extremely common, as we age, even the healthiest of mouths become weaker. Although it is possible to keep your adult teeth your whole life, there are many causes of cavities preventing this from happening. Sometimes an unhealthy diet is the cause, other times injury or even medication can all contribute to tooth loss. Although tooth loss can seem frightening there are solutions to replace the unfortunate event of losing your adult teeth. With dental implants. Led by our very own Dentist & Implantologist Dr. Simon Martin, the team at Revitalise can replace a missing tooth or teeth with a life like replica, providing a long-term solution.
Simon is our in-house Dentist & Implantologist with almost 15 years of experience placing implants. However, his experience in dentistry goes back much further. Simon graduated from the University of Manchester in 1991 which led to him owning two of his own successful practices before joining the team at Reviatalise.
Throughout his whole career Simon has always shown a thirst for knowledge and he continues to take an active interest in furthering his own professional development. Regularly attending courses and lectures. In 2011 Simon went on to receive the Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) of England in 2011. The diploma involves a minimum of two years post-graduate study based in London, Frankfurt and Tübingen, Germany.
More recently Simon has undertaken additional training to improve the care and overall experience for everyone he treats. In September 2019 he completed training covering techniques to restore failing full arches of teeth whilst preserving as much of the patients’ own tissue as possible. Conventional techniques often require the removal of large amounts of tissue, which can lead to discomfort and a less natural functionality of the natural teeth. Simon is dedicated to customer care and finding solutions that improve the well-being of the person he is treating.
Like most professionals in their field, Simon has a passion for mentoring the next generation of dentists. His experience has seen him spend five years as a final year tutor at Peninsula Medical and Dental School. With further tutoring on the Implant Diploma at the RCS and has mentored and supported Implant MSc and Diploma students. You might think that being our in-house Implantologist Simon might have had to step back from the world of tutoring and mentoring. But you couldn’t be more wrong! Simon is still actively involved in the education of both undergraduate and graduate dentists.
Throughout his whole career Simon has shown a commitment to developing his skills and upholding the highest of standards in the industry. This has led to a close association with the Faculty of General Dental Practice, of which Dr. Simon Martin is the Southwest Divisional Director.
This is a good question. In modern dentistry there are many specific fields, including general and cosmetic dentists. However, Simon chose the route of implantology. To become an implantologist a dentist must undertake additional training, usually lasting one to two years. This gives them the skills to surgically replace missing teeth with implants effectively and correctly.
To say Simon is experienced when it comes to dental implants would be a huge understatement. He was involved in the development of the Straumann Pro-Arch technologies and techniques, an advanced type of implant. The technology was designed for the immediate replacement of the failing dentition with fixed full-arch bridgework.
Dental implant surgery can be an extremely nerve racking experience. However, with Simon treating you there’s no need to worry. At Revitalise we aim to make all of our patients comfortable, particularly during lengthy procedures.
Simon achieves this using IV sedation and has been doing so since 2005. This technique allows us to treat patients whose acute anxiety or phobia might otherwise make treatment intolerable. Having performed over a thousand successful sedations you can rest assured that your new smile couldn’t be in safer hands!
Considering how busy and committed Dr. Simon Martin is you might be wondering if he has any time for himself! However, outside of work, he rides both mountain and road bikes enthusiastically. Regularly travelling to the French and Italian Alps for excitement. He also sails and skis for enjoyment and relaxation.
He and his partner Yvonne have recently moved to Cornwall and are enjoying all of its wonderful resources!
Here at Revitalise Dental Centre we offer a range of services, including dental implants in our five star treatment centre. A dental implant will give you the confidence to talk, eat, and smile normally without a second thought.
“The minute I met Martin, I just knew he was so calm and relaxing. So then we had a discussion and Martin said what he could do and it had to be what our pocket could afford as well and we went ahead with it. The experience I had at this dentist was unbelievable, it was a journey I loved every minute of.”

“There’s always smiling, handshakes, hugs and plenty of tea and coffee. They looked after my husband who was there for the day. They do the sedation and Hayley looked after me. Obviously I was unaware of exactly what they were doing, but they always make you feel so comfortable. Although you’re nervous, I don’t think I could’ve gone and got the same treatment anywhere else.”
