Onsite lab

Few dental practices in the country have a dedicated onsite lab to create the dental prosthesis and moulds needed for treatment options. This allows us to significantly reduce the length of your treatment time and focus on what’s important…you.

Unlike many dental practices we do not need to outsource our treatments to third parties, not only does this mean your treatment can be achieved faster, but quality and consistency can be assured. That’s why many of our clients travel from all over the country including Truro for cosmetic dentistry.

Further Information

Home Bleaching

Even people with healthy teeth are occasionally unhappy with the appearance of their teeth, with the main cosmetic complaint being they would prefer them to be whiter. That’s why we offer a bespoke teeth whitening service that you can complete in the comfort of your own home.

Non-invasive procedure

Tooth whitening is a completely non-invasive treatment option, meaning no drilling or filing of the teeth is required. With no need for no nasty anaesthetic needles. We do not need to alter or adjust the teeth in any way.

Teeth whitening works using the body’s natural functioning. Tooth discolouration is caused by “chromophore” molecules found within foods such as tea, coffee and red wine. We will use a peroxide gel which contains an active whitening ingredient designed to safely penetrate the enamel, the outer surface of the tooth. This allows the whitening ingredient to reach and break down the chromophore molecules which toothpaste cannot reach. This dissolves the chromophore molecules and whitens the teeth.

What is the process of teeth whitening?

We understand travelling to St. Agnes from Truro for Cosmetic Dentistry does take some time. That’s why we limit your sessions with us to just three short visits.

Session 1

It’s important before we begin any form of treatment to ensure that there are no underlying dental problems that might hinder treatment. We will fully assess your teeth, mouth and gums for signs of cavities and gum disease to determine teeth whitening is safe and achievable.

Once we have determined that teeth whitening is a possibility we will give your teeth a deep clean to remove any build-up or debris. This is to ensure the impressions (“Moulds”) we take of your teeth are accurate. The impressions we take will happen after your clean and be used to make custom whitening trays which fit perfectly within your mouth.

Session 2

In our second session, we will provide you with your custom trays that will be used throughout your whitening process, along with the whitening gel to bleach your teeth. We will demonstrate how to use the trays and gel correctly to ensure you get the best treatment possible.

For most people, whitening requires daily wearing of the trays for around 2 hours (some people wear them whilst asleep for convenience purposes) for 2 weeks. It is important to wear the trays daily for the prescribed period.

Session 3

The third and final session is to review your teeth and ensure you are happy with the results.

Direct Resin Bonding

Direct Resin Bonding is a treatment option we use to restore decayed and chipped teeth, improve their shape or fix discolouration. This treatment is perfect for minor to moderate cosmetic complaints and more often than not we just add to the teeth. Meaning in most cases no drilling or injections are required.

The process involves applying Dental Composite Resin, a special type of tooth coloured plastic to the teeth permanently. At Revitalise Dental Centre we have a highly experienced cosmetic dental team led by Dr. Smithson, who pioneered the technique in the UK over 20 years ago. Many people travel from all over the UK, including Truro for Cosmetic Dentistry due to our special expertise in Direct Resin bonding.

What is involved?

It’s important before we begin any treatment to ensure that the gums and nerves inside the teeth are healthy. That’s why we begin with an initial assessment to fully evaluate your teeth, gums, and mouth.

We then take a scan of your mouth to create a digital, on-screen model of your situation. From here we can create a computer mockup of the final result so you can see the likely outcome before committing to treatment. We then use state of the art technology to print an accurate 3D model of your teeth and a custom-made plastic mould which allows us to accurately transfer the shape of the computer designed teeth to your mouth.

Using a specialised ultraviolet light and precision polishing, the resin is applied and set to the natural teeth. At a second appointment, the dentist will artistically bond composite resin to your teeth to emulate our agreed design. Often only one appointment is required.

Veneers

When you have a more extensive cosmetic complaint that can’t be corrected with direct bonding, veneers provide a fantastic solution. With very minimal drilling veneers can be used to improve the shape, size, and colour of your teeth. Made from strong ceramic glass, veneers are used to replace or improve tooth structure and enhance the appearance of your teeth, usually the front ones

Natural Look

At Revitalise Dental Centre we ensure your veneers look realistic and match the current shape, size and colour of your natural teeth. Designed to cover the front of a tooth, they are securely and permanently ‘glued’ to your teeth using a special adhesive.

If you are looking for a dentist in Truro for cosmetic dentistry who can achieve consistent and reliable results look no further. At our state of the art dental centre, we use the most innovative approaches to achieve the most realistic look possible. Using ELab digital camera technology we can produce extremely realistic and indistinguishable results.

Strong and resilient

We aim to provide you with a beautiful smile you can share with the world for many years to come. With longevity in mind, our veneers are made from a strong ceramic and with the correct care, you can expect a life expectancy of up to 15 years before you need a replacement.

Get your new smile quickly

With our onsite laboratory and state of the art technology, we can deliver your new smile at a faster rate than most. Often start to finish within a week. Ceramic veneers often take a little longer to create than other types of veneers due to the planning, design and preparation involved. If you are looking for cosmetic dentistry in Truro but are put off by the completion time, contact us and discover further how we can drastically reduce the length of your treatment.

What is the process of veneers?

On the day of the procedure, we remove a small amount of the surface enamel where the veneer will be placed. Not only does this make room for the veneer but it also ensures your bite remains normal. We then take an impression of your teeth either with a mould or digitally. The veneers are then custom made in the dental laboratory.

The process of placing the veneer is straightforward: we will first clean, polish and roughen the tooth surface, then apply a special adhesive to the tooth and carefully place the veneer. Using a high-intensity ultraviolet light we will link the veneer to the tooth: this process is known as “bonding”. Finally, we will assess your bite, polish the veneers to a mirror shine and make sure you are happy with the way your veneers look.

Crowns

Sometimes a tooth might be severely damaged and a traditional filling or veneer will not be a sufficient treatment option. In these cases, we will use a crown to restore the tooth and improve its appearance, strength and longevity. Made with a ceramic material or gold, we will create a ‘cap’ which fits over the natural tooth, permanently bonded using a strong adhesive.

The process of preparing a crown

In most cases a crown can be achieved in one to two sessions, however in some cases, additional treatment may need to be completed before treatment can begin. A root canal treatment or gum therapy may be necessary to ensure treatment is successful and safe.

Under local anaesthesia, we may need to remove around 1mm from the outer surface of the tooth to ensure the crown fits correctly. From here we will make a mould of your teeth and one of our technicians will prepare the crown to rebuild the tooth and replace all missing structure. Once the crown has been prepared we place it on your tooth using a strong adhesive so it remains securely in place; before this, we make any final adjustments to ensure the crown is comfortable and correctly positioned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes, teeth whitening is perfectly safe. There is no risk of damage to the teeth, gums or mouth when carried out by a trained professional. Here at Revitalise, we create custom trays to ensure your DIY kit fits perfectly within your mouth to avoid leaks from the whitening gel.

What are the differences between professional whitening at a dental centre and DIY kits?

The chemical used in the whitening gel, hydrogen peroxide, can be harmful to the human body when used in larger amounts. That’s why professional tooth whitening can only be carried out by a fully trained dentist in the UK by law.

DIY home kits you can buy online and on the high street use a very low level of hydrogen peroxide allowed by law. Resulting in a far less effective treatment option.

Can I eat and drink normally after direct resin bonding treatment?

The UV Light we use to set the resin will cause it to harden almost instantly. Meaning you will be able to eat and drink normally immediately afterwards.

How much does bonding cost?

A single tooth will start from around £400, a more comprehensive treatment such as work involving all of the visible teeth at the front of the mouth will usually be in the range of £2000-4000. Computer-generated previews are all included in the cost of your treatment.

Will a veneer match the colour of my natural teeth?

Yes, the cosmetic team at Revitalise have extensive experience in matching the colour of veneers to your natural teeth. Using ELab digital camera technology we can achieve consistent and reliable shade matching. Resulting in a super-realistic look.

How long does teeth whitening last?

In most cases, you will not need to visit us again for up to a year from when you start your treatment. However, lifestyle choices greatly determine how long teeth whitening will last. If you are a smoker or regularly consume tea and coffee you may require more frequent “top-up” bleaching.

Do I need any aftercare after direct resin bonding treatment?

Composite resin is designed to be as durable as the natural teeth and will not require any specific maintenance. You will continue to look after your teeth as normal, it is best to avoid food which might stain the teeth.

Is it true veneers are stainless?

Unlike natural teeth, veneers are not porous meaning colouring from foods will not stain veneers the way they would the natural teeth.

How long do veneers last?

You can expect veneers to last up to 15 years before they need replacing. Looking after your veneers the same way you would as your adult teeth is key to their longevity. Regular dental and hygienist visits are vital for maintaining a good standard of oral health.

Does a crown hurt?

You will not experience any pain during your treatment, we will use a local anaesthetic to numb the area being treated. If you’re travelling from Truro for cosmetic treatment, it might be worth having someone accompany you in case you don’t feel up for driving home.

Will a crown prevent my teeth from decay or gum disease?

No, neglecting to maintain a good standard of oral health can still cause decay or gum disease. Although your crown is not at risk of decay, your teeth still are.

How much does a crown cost?

The cost of a ceramic crown is £800-1200. A gold crown will cost slightly more due to the price of the metal.

Revitalise Dental Centre believes everyone deserves to have a beautiful smile they are confident sharing with the world. That’s why we offer a range of patient finance options to help you spread the cost of your treatment.
