Dentures in Cornwall

If you have lost a tooth or have teeth that are failing, then dentures offer a natural looking, comfortable and cost-effective solution.

Here at Revitalise Dental Centre, we offer a full range of treatments for customers with existing dentures and those having them fitted for the first time, and benefit from our own onsite denture laboratory that cuts treatment and turnaround times significantly.

Dentures at Revitalise Dental Centre

Dentures come in many forms, designed to suit the varying needs of patients and all the different factors that lead to losing and replacing adult teeth. If an entire row of teeth need replacing then the solution will be complete dentures, whereas partial dentures are designed to fill any gaps left by missing teeth – often multiple missing teeth.

Being fitted for dentures is a straightforward procedure. Dentures most commonly consist of a flexible nylon, rigid acrylic, or metal plate with one or more artificial teeth that replicate the original teeth, attached. The denture slots around your remaining natural teeth with the new prosthetic tooth or teeth sitting in place to fill the gap.

Whether you need just one or multiple teeth replacing, dentures are a fast, easy and more affordable option that will restore your ability to talk, eat and smile with confidence.

During your FREE, in-practice consultation with your personal Revitalise practitioner, we will discuss the treatment options, the costs and the aftercare involved and will help you to decide what would best suit you and your lifestyle. From here, we’ll provide you with a personalised treatment plan to help you best achieve your smile goals.

Dentures FAQs

Dentures aren’t meant to be kept in 24 hours a day, so it’s important that you take them out at night, before going to bed. It’s best to clean them during this time to maintain good oral hygiene. It’s important that you don’t wear your dentures for more than 24 hours at a time.

When you first get your dentures it’s common to experience some mild discomfort. Typically, it can take up to 30 days for your dentures to fully settle and for you to become completely comfortable. The main reason for this is that your gums need to get used to the base of your new artificial teeth, so it’s not uncommon to feel some rubbing, to begin with.

If you’re still struggling with your dentures after 30 days, be sure to get in touch with your dentist.

You should be brushing your dentures daily to remove any particles of food. You should avoid anything too rough to protect your dentures, and we advise a soft-bristled toothbrush and a good quality denture cleanser.

You should also ensure there is no denture adhesive left behind on your gums.

It can take a while to learn how to eat normally with your new dentures, but this will get better with time. Once your dentures have settled, you should be able to eat pretty freely and enjoy your normal diet. However, you should be careful eating very hard or sticky foods and avoid these types of foods in the beginning.
